Pentarch Forestry’s briquette plant will compress, and package low value wood residues from processing and produce around 8000 tons per annum of high-quality briquettes for domestic consumption. Branded as FIREBRIQS, this product is planned to be rolled out by mid-year.
The briquette plant will be developed at the Allied Natural Wood Exports Eden site on the South-coast of NSW and will complement the new multimillion dollar timber processing and optimisation hub.
FIREBRIQS, made from PEFC certified timber, burn hot and clean due to their low moisture content and are a convenient supplement or alternative to firewood.
Pentarch Forestry Chief Executive Officer, Paul Heubner said the development of the briquette plant will support economic growth and improve the environmental sustainability of the Eden operation.
“The value-added investment within the briquette plant will lead to less waste, better environmental outcomes, and a more sustainable commercial operation” he said.
Mr Heubner said that developments such as these are examples of how renewable, sustainable forestry has a multitude of positive environmental outcomes, a fact not lost on decision makers.
Pentarch Forestry has expressed its gratitude for the support from the Federal and NSW Governments and the Bega Valley Shire Council.

The briquette plant is expected to be operational by April this year.
