Four new community partnerships have been approved through the through the 2021 round of grants from the Hyne Community Trust. Hyne Community Trust Chair, Kerrie Downes said the four successful applicants were very strong and demonstrated lasting benefits to the community.
“The Tumbarumba Golf Club is an integral part of the community utilised by football clubs, senior citizens groups, Rotary Club events, weddings, and much more,” Ms Downes said. “It is a facility that adds value to our town.
“A 2021 grant of $20,000, in addition to $40,000 last year, will assist the club to further progress a staged approach to a range of renovations and upgrades. Specifically, the 2021 round of grants will supply solar panels to power the site, improve energy efficiency and reduce costs for years to come.” Ms Downes said.
Golf Club President, Stephen Morrison said the support would reduce operating costs and accelerate further improvements,
“The support of the Hyne Community Trust enabled us to upgrade our roof in 2020 which can now accommodate solar panels,” he said.
“Thanks to a further 2021 grant, we are now awaiting installation of the panels which will improve our environmental footprint and potentially sell power back to the community.
“We are extremely grateful to Hyne for the support they have provided us over the years. We are hopeful the solar project will be completed before the end of the year.” Mr Morrison said.
Meanwhile, at the Tumbarumba Turf Club, teams of volunteers including Hyne team members Judy Kelso and John McIntyre have been busy demolishing a 40-year-old kitchen to make way for a new one with almost $18,000 support from the Hyne Community Trust.
Turf Club Secretary, Gordon Kelso said the Club was thankful to Hyne for the grant.
“This grant is enabling us to bring the amenities at the club up to first class standard for the community of Tumbarumba to use.
“All of the hard, demolition work has been done by volunteers which means we can use the grant funding to get the best possible new kitchen with minimum labour costs.” Mr Kelso said.
Additional grants were awarded as follows:
More than $22,000 to the Carcoola Children’s centre for additional shade cover.
Almost $37,000 to the Tumbarumba SES to purchase as generator.
