Fee increases for FPP applications and tree fern tags

New fees for FPP applications and tree fern tags will become effective from 1 July 2022. The fee for application to certify a forest practices plan and for the purchase of tree fern tags is set annually by Tasmania’s Treasury in accordance with the Fee Units Act 1997. Source: Timberbiz

A summary of an increase in fees administered by the Forest Practices Authority, which will become effective from 1/7/2022 is available at https://www.fpa.tas.gov.au/

The fees for treeferns will be as follows:

  • treefern stem greater than 30 cm in length (priced at one fee unit or $1.70 as of 1 July 2022)
  • treefern stem 30 cm or less in length (priced at 0.5 fee units or 85c as of 1 July 2022).

If you need an FPP, a Forest Practices Officer (FPO) can prepare and certify one for you. The cost is based on how complicated the FPP is, as most FPOs charge a daily rate.

FPPs usually take five to 10 days to prepare. There is also a fee for lodging FPPs, which varies according to the class of plan.
