The speaker sessions program is aimed directly at design professionals looking at the design and construction of timber buildings, with a focus on commercial-ready applications of timber technology.

Continuing the tradition of previous TOC conferences, the program will offer diverse session topics featuring world-class speakers from the USA, Canada, New Zealand, and Europe. Attendees can expect in-depth case studies exploring the intricacies of design and construction processes across low-rise, medium, and high-rise building projects.

A keynote speaker highlight is Andrew Ball, president of oWoW, an exciting new firm undertaking cutting-edge timber construction in California. oWoW is a vertically integrated company whose mission is to build homes that people love at affordable prices.

They have an in-house Development, Design, Construction and Property Management team with a vision for a sustainable building product that is repeatable, highly sustainable and provides affordable luxury housing to middle income earners.

Mr Ball will also be speaking on how innovative mass timber building systems can save substantial costs over conventional concrete construction.

Mr Dunn said that the 2023 program and speakers attending are the most impressive of all previous TOC conferences. The sessions will explore the design process of a typical timber building, looking at hurdles and how they were overcome. Also on the program are emerging trends in hybrid and composite building systems, integrating timber, concrete, and steel to achieve innovative design solutions.

He said TOC 2023 anticipates an even larger turnout, attracting industry leaders and professionals eager to explore the potential of timber building construction, both from Australia and around the world.
