The National Timber & Hardware Association (NTHA) provided the opportunity for students to kick start their learning by gaining four units of competency in the Timber & Hardware Industry.
The industry visit to Tamworth Building Supplies provided students with practical experience in assessing wood materials visually. Students also utilised a Wood Moisture Meter to measure the moisture content or various types of wood products.
This experience provided them with the practical skills and knowledge that can’t always be fully acquired through classroom learning alone. Students were able to establish industry connections which are beneficial for networking, mentorship opportunities, and potential future job prospects.
Thank you to NTHA staff, Colin and Louise for your guidance, teaching, and support throughout the completion of the units. I’m certain students increased their knowledge of wood materials, improved skills and boosted their confidence when engaging with customers.
Programs such as this, expose students to a wide range of career opportunities, helping them to make informed decisions about their future career paths.
