The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is undertaking a comprehensive review of the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO), a system that describes and categorises occupations and is used in the census to collect data about the workforce. Source: Timberbiz
This information then informs decisions made by all levels of government in Australia, including about industry support, workforce strategies, tax breaks, apprenticeships and traineeships, skilled migration lists and more.
Throughout 2023-34, occupations are being reviewed by focus area, with the current round featuring occupations in the forest and wood products industry.
The ABS are seeking feedback on the accuracy of occupation skill levels and descriptions and occupations anticipated to emerge or decline in the next 5 to 10 years.
As the Job and Skills Council for forest and wood products industry, Skills Insight wants to support your contribution to the ANZSCO review, so occupations within your industry are accurately reflected. This will promote fair and useful allocation of government supports that use ANZSCO-based data sources.
To aid your participation in the ANZSCO review, Skills Insight is hosting an online information session with input from the ABS on 9 November, 1-2 pm AEDT.
To register for this session and find out more about how occupations are described in the ANZSCO, visit the Skills Insight website at https://skillsinsight.com.au/
You can also provide input either directly through the ABS website here by 5 December or by contributing to a submission being prepared by Skills Insight by 20 November.
