The Australian Timber Trainers Association (ATTA), ForestWorks and Forest Industry Assessment Plan System (FIAPS) members will hold a combined annual workshop in Mt Gambier on 27-30 July.
“This year, we will be combining our workshop program, so we are now in the process of working through the details of satisfying the objectives of the annual events,” said ATTA secretary David McElvenny.
“Given the fact that there is a large overlap in membership between the organisations, the combined event should provide a significant time and cost saving to members. For ATTA members who are not currently subscribers to FIAPS, this combined conference will allow them to undertake assessment instrument validation and moderation in more detail than we have been able to at previous workshops,” he said.
Some of the topics to be covered during this year’s conference include training packages, environmental management systems, legal liabilities for trainers and assessors. There will also be field trips.
Last year’s ATTA workshop was held in the Top End and which attracted 39 ATTA members and 15 guest speakers, in addition to a wide range of industry-specific presentations from trainers, Government agencies and ForestWorks staff.
