Ballarat City Council in Victoria has voted on sending its public spaces and environment manager Ian Rossiter to the World BioEnergy 2012 conference in Sweden this month. Sources: Ballarat Courier, Timberman
His main reasons for attending are to study primary bioenergy sources such as forest product residues, crop residues and municipal waste as the council already has a major regional bioenergy project in its sights.
The Victorian state government is funding the Greenwaste to Energy Project to the tune of $50,000 and three sites are currently being assessed for this facility.
According to the Ballarat Courier, Victorian BioEnergy Network member Andrew Lang asked a representative from the council to be sent to the conference and pushed for Ballarat to become a regional bioenergy centre.
