Public consultations are a vital part of the development process of these international standards as you are able to read the draft standard, make comments and give direct feedback. Every comment made will be answered.
This public consultation comes towards the end of the current PEFC Standards Revision process.
This document establishes the requirements for certification bodies carrying out PEFC chain of custody certification. As standards are made more robust, this revision will require that auditors to have specific experience on PEFC Chain of Custody audits and includes requirements for certification decision makers.
The standard will also reflect commitment towards gender responsive standards, ensuring that certification bodies consider gender equity within the personnel involved in the certification activities and the audit team. Modernising the certification procedures is another part, by considering the use of technology in remote auditing for client organizations without physical handling of finished and labelled products.
