A change of name for one of Victoria’s peak forestry and cartage bodies will help it gain more relevance, member appeal and strength.
What was the Victorian Forest Harvest & Cartage Council (VFHCC) will now be known as the Victorian Forest Contractors Association (VFCA).
Chief executive Scott Gentle said the change was to “bring us in line with other contractor organisations and also to give the organisation a name that is more easily recognisable as a forestry organisation”.
He said the old name had served its purpose but added that “as the organisation moves forward a name change was appropriate for where we are heading and for what we are hoping to achieve”.
Scott said the newly-named organisation would be run in a similar fashion to the Tasmanian Forest Contractors Association.
Australian Forest Contractors Association manager David Drane said the change of name for the Victorian body was a good move and “brings everyone into line with the same theme of their name Forest Contractors Associations”.
