Private Forestry Service Queensland will be running the Annual Farm Forestry Bus Trip on Saturday 23rd July from 8 am to 9 pm.
The Farm Forestry Bus Trip is a popular tour of the Sunshine and Cooloola hinterland’s diverse farm forestry developments. This year the tour will include mature eucalypt and rainforest plantations, young plantings of local commercial eucalypt species, small-scale timber processing, riparian revegetation and native forests.
The day will begin at the Woodworks and Forestry Museum in Gympie, with a lucas mill and wood working tools demonstration. The tour will continue on to see the impressive Doggrell Trees at Coondoo, a new site at Kin Kin that has been ‘spot ripped’ ready for planting, 25 year old eucalypt and rainforest plantation and a young eucalypt plantation established on challenging country.
Enjoy a roast lunch at the historic Kin Kin Country Life Hotel, a comfortable air-conditioned bus and meet other farm forestry enthusiasts from the region. Make a weekend of it and stay on for Gympie’s Ultimate Steam Festival!
The cost is $25 per person including morning tea and lunch. Bookings are essential as places are limited to 60.
