Finland’s exports of softwood lumber showed conspicuous growth in April and May 2010, after exports had plummeted by 41% in March.
The roundwood supply situation in Finland has improved noticeably in April and May, after Finnish sawmills had been unable to make full use of their production capacities in March, against the background of the tight roundwood supply at that time.
According to the Finnish Forest Industries Federation lumber exports jumped 42% from year-ago levels to 633,290 (May 2009: 446,860) m³ in May 2010. In April, exports increased by 30% to 648,278 (April 2009: 497,260) m³.
