THE AUSTRALIAN Forest Contractors’ Association of Australia (AFCA) and the Institute of Foresters of Australia (IFA) will be collaborating to ensure the success of the AUSTimber 2012 ‘Precision Forestry’ conference. This will be the first time the organisations have worked together, with both recognising the importance each other’s membership bases bring to the sustainability and continuous improvement of the forestry industry in Australia.
Cassandra Spencer, chief executive officer of the institute, said the timing of the conference, 29 March 2012, was beneficial to the forward program of the IFA.
“Bringing the science behind the technology and the whole spectrum of users together in one place will allow IFA members to interact and collaborate on a much broader scale. The joint program, in identifying and showcasing the latest technologies at the scale that we have seen at previous AUSTimber events, will give IFA members the resources and opportunity to integrate their participation with a practical hands on approach with prospective businesses, professional colleagues and Australia’s future foresters.”
The conference program is being designed around the theme ‘Precision Forestry’ to encompass all the technology available in the processes that take place from seeds to end products, in essence the whole supply chain of the forest industries.
