The sessions were tailored for small and medium sized leaders and managers of harvest and haulage businesses, including modules focused on:
- Business management
- People practices and leadership
- Safety leadership
- Environmental sustainability.
ForestFit is being jointly developed by industry and the NSW Government in partnership with Australian Forest Contractors Association (AFCA).

“Following the completion of the ForestFit Training Pilot this week with two participant groups in NSW we are looking forward to progressing the certification framework development with industry,” AFCA general manager Stacey Gardiner said.
“ForestFit certification will be designed to support continuous improvement of forestry contracting businesses with a focus on sustainable business, safety and environmental practices and will create compliance and auditing efficiencies.
“The ForestFit Industry Reference Group has established a certification process and is looking to engage with industry to further develop the framework before it will be piloted later this year with forestry contracting businesses,” she said.
“I encourage industry to get involved to shape ForestFit certification and the assessment criteria.”
Initially, ForestFit will be designed and delivered for NSW forestry contracting businesses, with the intent of being customised for national delivery.
Working closely with the Industry Reference Group, and other industry representatives, the ForestFit team is progressing with the design and delivery of the pilot training program.
