This week the national Frame Australia 2012 conference has been running at the Park Hyatt in Melbourne. This is the 14th conference and organizer Kevin Ezard said that this year there is a record number of participants. Source: Timberbiz
He quipped that the reason it was now at the Park Hyatt rather than the Sofitel was that there was “lots of wood veneer around” in the hotel, which does incorporate a substantial amounts of veneered wood in lobby areas.
As an adjunct to the event participants were taken to BB Truss & Timber in Bendigo on Sunday 17 June for a tour of the large new facility and its wide array of Multinail machinery.
In this week’s Daily Timber News we will be updating you on the most significant sessions of both day one and day two.
Day one has had a focus on green building information including an indepth talk from Lend Lease about their new CLT Forte building in Melbourne.
Another sessions focused on MiTek’s new Sapphire software program for “whole of house” design and a surprise new iPad/iPhone app.
Finally the topic turned to BIM “Building project data integration” and included a very informative session by Claudelle Taylor of Leighton Holdings on using BIM in worldwide projects.
Day two sessions will include the topics of engineered wood and structural timber, wood construction systems and pre-fabricated manufacturing.
