The owners of the 12ha site, including Geoff Proctor, a part-owner of the former mill specialising in furniture, revealed plans to transform the Black Forest Drive site into a complex including a microbrewery, restaurant, artisan studios, regional art gallery, provedore centre and camp ground, and eco-accommodation hub.
The plans have been eight years in the making and are expected to be presented to Macedon Ranges Council next month for approval.
Mr Proctor said a prospectus would then be created for investors.
The launch of the $200,000, 30kW Woodend Solar Park at the timber mill on Saturday coincided with the Macedon Ranges Sustainable Living Festival, giving the group its first chance to share its vision for the historic mill site with the public.
A demonstration of what might be a permanent art gallery in a former wood storage shed was part of Saturday’s solar park launch.
