In line with this, popular seasonal tourist attraction, Ghost Mushroom Lane, will not open for the 2020 season.
ForestrySA Manager Community Services Monique Blason said the move had been made in line with strict government social distancing regulations and bans on social gatherings.
“Ghost Mushroom Lane attracts more than 20,000 visitors from across Australia and internationally, over a period of just eight weeks,” she said. “There is a real health risk associated with welcoming large numbers of people to our forest recreation sites amid the COVID-19 health crisis.
“While we realise our decision will come as a disappointment to Ghost Mushroom hunters of all ages, we are committed to doing all we can to reduce the spread of the virus.”
Ms Blason said ForestrySA was committed to reopening Ghost Mushroom Lane in May 2021.
