The Institute of Foresters of Australia (IFA) has developed a seminar designed to up-skill forestry professionals to improve the way they communicate with forestry stakeholders and the broader community on the multiple values and benefits of sustainable forestry in Australia. Source: Timberbiz
This seminar will help participants build the capacity and expand the toolkit of forestry professionals to communicate and engage through a range of mechanisms based on trust and acknowledgement of perspectives.
The all-day event will be held on 5 December at level 6, Marie Reay Teaching Building Kambri, Australian National University, Canberra.
Participants can also expect an improved understanding of the resources and networks available to achieve more effective communication.
The objectives are:
- Introduction to the fundamentals of effective communication, and how to develop an effective communication campaign
- Review current communication and engagement challenges including why people do not always listen to the forestry message
- Review successful communication & engagement campaigns (Case studies)
- Consider how to develop your own successful corporate and personal forestry narrative with emphasis on participants’ current issues/topics from around the country
- Consider next steps for creating a broader network of the knowledge to support the sector to communicate more effectively
