Hyne Timber chief executive officer Jon Kleinschmidt attended the ceremony held in Brisbane.
Mr Kleinschmidt said he was pleased Hyne Timber had been recognised as finalists twice in only two weeks across two different states.
“Most Hyne employees spend a significant amount of their lives contributing to the growing success of Hyne Timber,” he said.
“We take pride in our high retention rates through continuously developing people to ensure a successful, long and personally satisfying career.
“Having the value we place on our employees recognised across both NSW and Queensland reaffirms that Hyne Timber commits to and delivers the highest standard in its training.”
Employing more than 500 people, the Hyne Timber footprint reaches from Cairns to Melbourne.
Six of the 11 Hyne Timber sites are situated in Queensland, including the headquarters in Maryborough.
James Hyne, operations manager at the Tuan Mill near Maryborough, said training in the timber industry had come a long way, with safety a priority.
“Almost every Hyne Timber mill employee here at Tuan has, or is currently undertaking, a Certificate III or IV in Sawmilling and Processing,” he said.
“Safety is a priority. I’ve got no doubt, Hyne employees go home with the action ‘stop, think safe’ on their mind.”
