ANZIF 2011 (the joint conference of the Institute of Foresters of Australia (IFA) and New Zealand Institute of Forestry) is being held at Sky City, Auckland, from 2-5 May. The theme for the event is ‘Pacific Forestry’.
The conference targets forestry policy makers, managers and practitioners from the South Pacific region. Foresters from this part of the world have been challenged to lead a step change in the professionalism of forestry and forestry practice in the South Pacific as an example for the rest of the world. Issues such as illegal logging and climate change will be on the agenda, but 2011 is also the UN International Year of the Forest and a strong focus on social, cultural and economic expectations of forests in this region can be expected.
