A Malaysian delegation of timber council members form wooden packaging, furniture and molding industries visited the Junnikkala Sawmill in Kalajoki, Finland. The members of Malaysian delegation have never used Finnish timber, so they visited the sawmill to study Finnish wood and timber as a raw material and operations of a Finnish sawmill. They wanted to understand the Finnish way to use wood and how Finnish companies work.
During the visit the company introduced Junnikkala’s quality standards, machinery, techniques and Finnish wood qualities and species.
The Malaysian delegation also took a guided tour of the sawmill’s production lines and examined product quality.
Earlier in the year a Chinese delegation of wholesalers, wood importers from furniture industry and wood construction industry visited had also visited the factory.
During the visit the Chinese delegation learned about Finnish wood and Finnish companies and seek to build up business relationships with Junnikkala Sawmill.
According to the Finnish Saw Mill Association, this promotes Finnish sawn softwood and its applications in selected market areas and segments. The main objectives of the program is to form new business partnerships between the global timber trade and Finnish companies and, to enhance the existing mutually beneficial co-operation between business partners.
Wood from Finland is a national promotion program for Finnish sawn timber, which is operated by Business Finland and Finnish Sawmill Association.
