The Tasmanian Forest Contractors Association announced, today, the resignation, as Chairman, of Rodney Bishop, who is retiring from the industry.
“The Association wishes to place on record its appreciation for the valuable contribution that Rodney has made toward the betterment of Tasmanian forest contractors and in particular his efforts over the current crisis in the forest industry”, Association CEO Ed Vincent said.
Mr Bishop will be succeeded as Chair, by well known Scottsdale identity, Karen Hall, whose partnership, with husband Ken, operates in the plantation harvesting sector. Karen’s commitment to business and the community was recently acknowledged when she was awarded membership to the Tasmanian Honour Roll of Women, where her entry reads in part “….Karen has embraced their 30 years in the timber industry with passion and pride. She has been a lobbyist and promoter through many means – the Women’s Timber Support Group, Forest Industries Trauma Support Group, Tasmanian Forestry Week, is a board member of Tasmanian Forest Contractors Association and is a founding and current active member of the North-East Tasmanian Branch of Timber Communities Australia. Twice she has been a finalist in the Trevor Cederman Memorial Award, which honours the unsung heroes of forestry. Karen has strongly promoted the importance of women working within the forestry industries and has created avenues to support them….”
Also joining the TFCA board are Yvonne Gerke (haulage – Scottsdale), Stefano Perotti (harvest – Lachlan), Graeme Whish-Wilson (silviculture – Mawbanna), Phil Voss (harvest – Granton) and Shannon Williams (haulage – Perth).
Retirement from the industry has also forced the board resignations of Max Jones and Glen Halsall, both long established TFCA members, whose knowledge, experience and contributions will be missed.
