Mr Chandler has been a forest manager with extensive experience in NZ corporate forestry, and with local authority asset management industries.
He has been working in forestry since starting with the NZ Forest Service in Nelson and has worked with Carter Holt Harvey and then Rayonier initially as Southland Otago Regional manager then as national environmental manager.
Tasman Pine Forests Ltd (TPFL), is a subsidiary of Sumitomo Forestry NZ Ltd with a forest estate of some 36,200 ha of exotic plantations. The majority (97%) of the planted forest area is established in radiata pine (Pinus radiata), with the balance in Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) and some small areas of other exotic species including Eucalyptus.
TPFL manage the plantation estate to produce wood, which is utilised in both domestic and international markets for a range of end uses including sawn timber, laminated veneer lumber (LVL), medium density fibreboard (MDF), posts and poles.
