AUSTRALIA’S newest and all-encompassing forestry and forestry products organization is advertising for a chief executive.
The Australian Forest Products Association was recently created as a result of the merger of two major industry bodies – the Australian Plantation Products and Paper Industry Council and the National Association of Forest Industries. The new Board is now seeking an energetic and appropriately experienced senior manager to bring these well established bodies together to the long term benefit of this vital rural industry.
According to the criteria the successful person will be an experienced leader capable of unifying the two bodies that have historically had slightly different strategic focus, ideally with forestry experience “but certainly your career brings with it business authority and an ability to grasp sector issues quickly. While Federal / State Government relations, advocacy and policy development are key to the role, so too is membership and ensuring Australia-wide industry support.
“As a senior manager with proven career success, you will have an abundance of soft skills and are expert at influencing and negotiation given the broad industry stakeholder base.
“With the inaugural Chair based in Melbourne and offices in Canberra and members in all major States, the Board is relaxed as to location but there will be significant time in Canberra plus a need to travel to all key Forestry industry states. An appropriate remuneration package reflects the importance of the position to the industry and will be negotiated to attract the right candidate.”
Applications for the position close on 30 May.
