Meeting with personnel at Timber House in Brisbane, Mr Ross expressed a passion and eagerness “to jump into the task”.
Mr Ross, a marketing and business development professional, brings nine years’ experience in the fast-paced property and construction industries.
He said he “warmed to wood” and embraced the new industry catchphrase ‘biophilic design’ which brought the natural elements of wood into indoor environments – “where we live, work, and learn” – with major health benefits.
“All the more significant if the wood is certified as a sustainable chain-of-custody choice along the production and construction chain,” Mr Ross said.
His new role will include visits to Responsible Wood brand users in Australia and PEFC-administered users in New Zealand and will be exploring new ways of communicating the organisation’s information, research and certification systems to the wider industry.
Prior to his appointment, Mr Ross held management positions within the Schiavello Group and was managing director of Gem Prospects, a consulting practice that provides corporate service solutions to construction and engineering businesses.
He has a Bachelor of Business (Management and Economics) and a Master of Marketing from the Queensland University of Technology and was invited by the Green Building Council of Australia to participate as an inaugural member of its State Industry Group for Queensland (2012-15).
