It has a sprawling floor space more than three times the average Kiwi home.
The gigantic, rustic Central Otago property was built in 2009. It features four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a log staircase, underfloor heating, a diesel-powered fireplace and even a 6.8m ceiling above the “Great Room”.
It also boasts a five-bay shed on 1.23ha of land, which can accommodate up to eight cars, and comes with its own spa bath and water purification system.
The 634sq m mansion at 23 Schaumann Rd, Alexandra, is built from New Zealand Douglas Fir timber.
It is valued at NZ$1.87 million but Remax realtor Nick Gregory estimates it could sell for up to NZ$2 million.
Completed in 2009 by Natural Log Homes, the home’s exterior is made of wood sourced from the Blakely Pacific forest in Geraldine.
It was initially constructed in Geraldine at the Natural Log Homes site to match a plan drawn up by the owners.
It was then taken apart and transported by truck to Alexandra and the construction site. Builder and owner of Natural Log Homes, Graeme Mould, said putting the giant house together was like completing a big puzzle.
