“This is a coup for Australia’s forest industries,” AFPA CEO Mr Ross Hampton said. “We have secured Minister Jones’ agreement to speak to us just weeks after the Australian government announced its $20 million plan to add one billion production trees to our landscape to drive jobs and growth in the forest industries of our nation.
“The New Zealand Labour/New Zealand First coalition announced its own plan to plant one billion trees following the New Zealand election last year and the government is now well into delivery mode.
“Australia’s forest industries are looking forward to hearing from Minister Jones in more detail about the New Zealand plan. We note New Zealand is placing nearly half a billion dollars behind its one billion trees plan.”
