The new program now offers 74 speakers from seven countries across four days with 28 hours of content from 27-30 October.

For Responsible Wood Marketing and Communications Officer, Jason Ross, involvement in the conference will be an important touch-point as the packaging industry faces increasing demands to meet environmental challenges.

“Sustainability is a key purchase consideration and when it comes to the packaging sector, paper is arguably the most environmentally friendly material,” Mr Ross said.

While all paper comes from trees, a renewable resource, not all forests are managed the same.

By choosing paper that comes from a Responsible Wood (in Australia) or PEFC (internationally) certified forests, consumers can have confidence that their decisions have not contributed to an unsustainable practice, nor damaged the ecological, social and economic well being of our forests.

“The Responsible Wood certification scheme uses the Australian Standard for Sustainable Forest Management, this ensures that certified packaging is sourced from forests that meets high standards forest management,” Mr Ross said.

The conference has been designed so that attendees can choose to:

  • Join live via Zoom software and interact – watch and interact with the sessions while they are happening.
  • Watch the “live stream” – watch a live video of the session.
  • Watch a “recording” of the session at a later time – as added value, if attendees are unable to join any of the sessions live they can access the recordings of all sessions using the conference website delegate login details until the end of December 2020.

There will also be live interactive opportunities during the morning tea and lunch breaks to learn about new innovations, materials and equipment that the industry has to offer.
