Sustainable Timber Tasmania is undertaking a process to identify parties interested in on-island processing of large volumes of hardwood plantation logs grown on permanent timber production zone land. Source: Timberbiz
Sustainable Timber Tasmania’s eucalypt plantations have been grown for more than 25 years, meaning they have wood properties suitable for manufacturing of quality veneer or sawn timbers and engineered wood products.
This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for existing and potential customers to access hardwood plantation logs at scale which have been subject to a management approach of growing, thinning and pruning. In total there is around 350,000 cubic metres per annum of wood available over 10 years including 125,000 cubic metres per annum of pruned and unpruned larger millable logs (greater than 30cm small end diameter).
The logs are sourced from Sustainable Timber Tasmania’s hardwood plantations which are certified under the Responsible Wood and PEFC certification schemes.
