The official signing of the VPA took place in late October 2018 in Brussels, Belgium.
In a statement, VNGO-FLEGT said that the signing and implementation of the Agreement would ‘continue to strengthen forest governance, promote timber trade between the European Union and Vietnam, and promote sustainable forest development’.
The Network said it would continue its ‘active participation in the preparation and implementation’ of the Agreement.
The VNGO-FLEGT Network was founded in January 2012 with the aim of contributing to the negotiation and implementation of the VPA and the FLEGT Program in Vietnam. Members of the Network have brought the voices of stakeholders, especially local communities, to the negotiation process.
