Penola pulp mill still on the cards

A PROPOSED $1.5 billion pulp mill at Penola is close to being finalized and it is thought construction will start early next year. Construction of the world’s largest bleached chemi-thermo mechanical pulp mill would wrap up four years of effort. Wattle Range Mayor Mark Braes said the new mill could result in a permanent workforce of 300 and up to 1000 jobs during the construction phase.
