Arbre has been supported by the Tasmanian Government to create programs for “Addressing skills shortages and training the Forestry Industry Leaders of tomorrow”.
As part of this project Arbre is creating a School Forestry Work Experience Program to introduce students in Year 10, who are interested in working in forestry, to a variety of sectors and associated career paths within the industry.
The objective of this program is to introduce students to potential career paths, that they previously may have been unaware of, and increase the profile of careers within the Forest Industry.
By giving students an opportunity to see first-hand via work experience what careers are available within forestry, it will add to their choice of career pathways and in turn increase the number of young employees entering the Forest Industry.
The program is currently being developed and will work in the following sectors, but is not limited to:
- Pre-employment session
- Work Health & Safety
- Forest Growing & Management
- Silviculture
- Harvest & Haulage
- Sawmilling & Processing
- Mechanical/Workshop
After review of the pilot this program will be rolled out to school sectors throughout Tasmania over the next three years.
If you are interested in participating in the program as an employer in the forest industries or as a school in Tasmania, please contact Denise at [email protected]
