Tasmania’s State Fire Management Council has developed a guide for farmers wishing to conduct planned burns on their properties. Source: Timberbiz
Planned Burning for Landholders and Farmers was launched at Agfest and aims to provide private landholders with the useful information, tools and checklists to assist when undertaking planned burning on their properties.
The toolkit includes information about weather conditions, fire behaviour, and safety.
It also includes resources such as the Beaufort wind scale, the single leaf test and useful phone numbers and websites.
A ‘Planned Burning Field Day’ will also be held on 27 July 2017 at Wattle Hill (10 minutes from Sorell).
