Now in its third year, the program is gaining momentum and is fostering strong forest owner and community relationships through the creation and completion of local forest-based projects with positive outcomes for both the community and the forests.
The program provides a great opportunity for a wide range of communities to submit grant applications for creative ideas about accessing and enjoying forests.
Responsible Wood received a fantastic response to this year’s program, with 17 innovative and compelling applications received, with a combined project value of over $165,000. A panel of judges awarded grants to six of the applicants, totalling $40,000.
The funds awarded to this year’s recipients will be used towards a variety of forest-based projects, including the construction and upgrades of innovative and interpretive forestry signage, timber furniture, picnic facilities, and a bike repair station.
