In a statement the company said that his passion, tenacity and leadership will be missed, and the 4th and 5th generation of Gibson management will continue walking in John’s footsteps and forging the company’s future in his honour.
AE Gibson and Sons is a family-owned sawmill engineering business in Kendall, on the mid-north coast of Australia. The company began operations in the late 19th century and has been operating for more than 120 years so it is one of the oldest sawmilling equipment suppliers in Australia.
The company specialises in the design, engineering and support of high-tech, innovative industrial sawmill machinery and sawmill automated systems. AE Gibson has two manufacturing centres on the NSW Mid North Coast, and offices in Kendall NSW, Sydney NSW, Melbourne VIC.
Arthur Gibson began the company and his son Mannie later also joined the business, then in 1971 Mannie retired and his two sons Mac and John operated the business until 1979 when John assumed sole ownership. John Gibson retired in June 2006 leaving the company in the hands of his four sons.
AE Gibson and Sons will be closed for business on 17 June 2022. All family, friends, staff, past and present are invited to John’s memorial service at Camden Haven Church, Mission Terrace, Lakewood, NSW at 10.30am Friday 17 June 2022.
