“This is the largest project of its type in Australia, and to our knowledge, it is the first project of its type anywhere in the southern hemisphere to achieve both project certifications,” Responsible Wood CEO, Simon Dorries.
He said that with wood used at seven stations and timber used for four multi storied car parks meeting Responsible Wood and PEFC project standards the Sydney Metro project represents a “high watermark for Australian forest certification”.
“The Sydney Metro North West is a pioneer project, using timbers responsibly sourced from Australian forests all timber was sourced (AS 4708), processed and manufactured (AS 4707) to meet the Australian Standard for Sustainable Forest Management,” Mr Dorries said.
“Future generations of Australian’s will be able to enjoy an amazing piece of infrastructure with trust and confidence that timbers were sourced from and support responsible forestry.
“As projects go, this is the ultimate renewable.”
