The annual TABMA awards evening was held at Doltone House in Sydney with attendance from around 280 guests including industry personnel representing the supply chain, wholesalers, resellers, manufacturers and suppliers. These were the first national awards with new CEO Mr Little and in his speech he commented on the challenges for the industry over the past year but said that “early signs are pointing to an improvement in housing and commercial construction for the timber supply industry in 2020”.
During his welcome address he also spoke of the importance of training and how it is a key factor in ensuring the success of the timber industry’s future.
The highlight of the evening was the recognition of Brenton Christopher, CEO of John Cook & Sons, who was acknowledged not only for his years in the industry but also his dedication to helping and giving back to an industry he dearly loves.
Mr Little presented all the awards except Trainee of the year and Andrew Bone Member of the Year.
