THERE IS still a opportunity to register for this important conference, as the last 12 months have proven to be particularly challenging for families and communities dependent upon the forest and timber industries and we are not ‘out of the woods’ yet.
We are of course, all aware of the plight of the contracting families, the impacts of market fluctuations, unjust anti forestry protests and the fact that there are ongoing high-level talks between the forest industry and NGO’s. The state and federal elections this year have also added to the complexity of life for forestry and it’s dependent families and communities.
The 2010 conference provides us with the ideal opportunity to come together and discuss, learn and form a view about the events of this year and how best to respond to the challenges that have emerged. There has never been a more important time for us to consider this year’s conference theme- ‘Our Community and Our Future’
