Although the exact site has yet to be finalised, it appears the Avalon Airport site is firming for a Victorian tender for prefabricated cabin-style quarantine accommodation.
According to Victorian Government Tender website:
The Department of Premier and Cabinet invites Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced contractors interested in tendering for the following roles in relation to the design and construction of an alternative quarantine accommodation hub in Victoria:
Head Contractor to provide construction services and works, including overseeing the design completion and construction of the alternative quarantine accommodation hub; and
Modular Contractor(s) to provide construction services and works, including the manufacture, transport, installation and commissioning (where required) of modular buildings and/or building components in relation to the Project (noting that these services and works may be incorporated within the tender for a Head Contractor or may be tendered separately).
This Invitation will be the first stage of a multi-stage tender process. Details are provided in an attached document on the website.
The Victorian and Commonwealth Governments are in discussions regarding the project and the project remains subject to approvals of both governments.
The Alternative Quarantine Accommodation project team will be holding a free, online, industry webinar on Thursday 3 June 2021 from 9.30-10.30 am (AEST).
This webinar will provide an opportunity to ask questions and find out more about the Victorian tender project and this open Invitation for Expressions of Interest. Registration is essential by booking through
