The organisation has supplied tree poles to the event since 2014, supporting this flagship competition for the benefit of the show and community, said Forestry Corporation Customer Service Coordinator, Peter Shipman.
“The event attracts competitors from across the world and always sees a capacity crowd, so we are pleased to again support the tree felling championship with hardwood tree poles sustainably produced through our plantation forests,” Mr Shipman said.
“The 60 blue-leaved stringybark tree poles supplied to the Royal Easter Show were grown in State forest plantations in the Watagans, highlighting the many benefits of renewable timber.”
The tree felling event is a favourite with the Royal Easter Show crowds – people are usually turned away from the gates as there is no more room for seating in the stands.
Wood chopping events highlight the versatility of timber as a renewable community resource and the value it can deliver.
“Forestry Corporation also supplies regional wood chopping competitions and has a great working relationship with Axemen of Australia,” Mr Shipman said.
“We’re happy to help keep local shows rolling on and make it easier for the volunteers to run these type of events.
“The timber is later converted to other uses such as chopping blocks to help run other local shows.”
