Tilling is now the Australian and New Zealand distributor of KLH cross laminated timber (CLT) products. Source: Infolink
CLT is an innovative building material that permits fast and efficient construction of single or multi-residential type buildings. It was developed in Austria mainly for wall, ceiling and roof construction.
Within the last 20 years, production has spread to other parts of Europe and to North America, and while the product will be distributed in Australia by Tilling there is not information on whether it will be produced in Australia.
In 2013, KLH’s CLT was used in the construction of Lend Lease’s Forte Building in Melbourne’s Docklands.
According to Tilling, its cross-laminated timber (German abbreviation: KLH) is produced from layers of spruce wood that are arranged crosswise on top of each other and glued to each other with a pressing power of 6 N/mm2 to form large-sized solid wood elements.
The crosswise arrangement of the longitudinal and transverse layers reduces the swelling and shrinkage of the wood in the plane of the panel to an insignificant minimum and considerably increases the static load-carrying capacity and dimensional stability.
