The film, produced by the CFMEU manufacturing division, was shown at Parliament House in August.
The film features timber workers explaining the opportunities that makers have to help secure timber jobs and address the timber shortage impacting the housing crisis.
Timber workers from around NSW including the communities of Tumut, Adelong, Oberon, Illawarra, Cessnock and Narooma featured.
The launch was sponsored by ForestWorks.
The film highlights the impact of the 2019-20 bushfires on the timber industry, arguing the supply shortages caused by devastating fires have been compounded by a lack of coordination among the different levels of government.
Tumut’s David Webb, who works at AKD and is a local CFMEU delegate, said the timber industry was a key employer in the town, but noted the business had gone from a two-shift operation to one-shift due to shortages in log supply, while Shane Walsh, who operates a frame and truss business out of Adelong, also noted the importance of the timber industry to the region.
