Mid-level managers will have a new opportunity to develop their leadership skills next year when FWPA launches a new regional leadership training pilot program designed to help create future industry leaders in collaboration with the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation. Source: Timberbiz
Managing Director of FWPA, Ric Sinclair, said the industry was on the cusp of generational change, with many senior leaders set to retire in the next five to 10 years.
“At industry meetings, there’s a sea of grey hair – including my own. Everyone is aware of the problem and this is our attempt to be part of the solution and do something meaningful to help members succeed, both now and into the future,” he said.
“I’d encourage all members to give some thought to the people they’d like to see at the helm in five to 10 years, and to encourage them to attend the training.”
The program aims to:
Develop mid-level managers to prepare them for national leadership roles within their companies or the broader industry
Build stronger regional and national ties
Expose emerging leaders to current and future industry issues Increase leadership skills
The program will include four-day regional workshops at Mount Gambier, Tumut, Bunbury and Gympie, followed by a five-day combined national workshop in Melbourne.
Training will be delivered by the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation and FWPA will subsidise the training however, participants must contribute $1000 and will need to cover their personal travel costs.
