The UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) has published its latest quarterly briefing note on the implementation of the European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR). Source: FLEFT
The briefing note covers April to May 2018. It summarises recent EUTR enforcement actions and related activities in Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Portugal.
It includes summaries of recently published reports and other news related to illegal logging and associated trade in both tropical countries and parts of the EU.
It also summarises recent policy developments and publications, and provides an overview of the FLEGT/EUTR expert group meeting which took place in Brussels in April 2018.
The note also highlights the recent release of a study carried out by UNEP-WCMC for the European Commission that summarises the checks that Competent Authorities in Europe have performed to verify EUTR compliance, as well as any enforcement actions taken.
The briefing note was compiled by UNEP-WCMC as a consultant of the European Commission in close cooperation with the Member States Competent Authorities.
