The Victorian Association of the Forest Industries (VAFI) is a small but professional team that develops and manages a range of media and government relations strategies for dealing with a wide range of complex issues facing the forest and wood products industry. Source: Timberbiz
The VAFI is a peak industry organisation for forest and wood products businesses in Victoria and represents forest growers, harvest and haul businesses, wood and paper processors and associated businesses and organisations.
The association is now seeking the services of public affairs manager who is expected to develop strong relationships with government, opposition, the media and other key stakeholders, and to represent VAFI in a range of public forums.
The incumbent will be required to work closely with members and other industry organizations with an overall goal of assisting the VAFI CEO to advance and protect the interests of the association and its members.
This role is a full time position with the opportunity to build media, government relations and project management skills, and professional networks.
The successful candiate will need to have media and government relations skills with an understanding of government and politics, and strong communication, advocacy, policy and relationship management skills.
Website, social media and other high-level computer skills are also desirable.
