National Timber Councils Association president Dale Harriman said Cr Hole’s advocacy for timber communities and industries lead him to be involved with both Timber Towns Victoria and National Timber Councils Association where he enjoyed several terms as president of both organisations.
It was during his leadership at Timber Towns Victoria, that Cr Hole lead the formation of NTCA, after a request from the Howard Government to establish a national network of councils involved in forestry and plantation and became the inaugural president of the association.
Cr Harriman said Cr Hole’s tireless work and knowledge had made NTCA the organisation that it is today.
“Malcolm was a huge community figure around Heyfield and a fierce timber industry advocate, involved in such projects as the National Timber Council, Timber Towns Victoria and the Timber Workers Memorial,” AFPA Chief Executive Officer, Ross Hampton said.
“Malcolm was a person who cared about the value and contribution of the local timber industry and became a courageous supporter for local workers.”
