Dr David Blair died after a skiing accident at Mount Bogong in late August. Dr Blair was a highly respected environmental scientist and champion of Victorian Ash Forests. On behalf of the directors, staff and members of FSC Australia, FSC wishes to acknowledge his considerable contribution to FSC in Australia. As a botanist with in-depth expertise in Mountain Ash forests, his contributions to the SDG have been invaluable.
He worked tirelessly with the SDG over five years to make the Australian FSC Standard credible and workable, and eventually, finalised and approved.
Dr Blair worked at the Australian National University’s Fenner School of Environment and Society. He lived in Healesville near the mountain ash forests he loved and studied, he was skiing near Mitta Mitta when the accident happened.
