The Integrated Trees On-Farm Conference is being organised by the South West Timber Hub and the Southern Forests Community Landcare, and is supported by the Forest Products Commission.
Scheduled for 31 May at the Manjimup Wellness Centre, the conference will focus on the ‘Triple Scoop’ – how to increase on-farm productivity, wood production and carbon mitigation.
South West Timber Hub Project Manager Wendy Perdon said the Integrated Trees On-Farm Conference would appeal to South West farmers, as well as professionals within the forestry, agricultural and carbon industries.
“This conference will tackle the fundamentals – why we need more timber, the benefits of integrated trees on-farm from those who actually know and what’s in it for farmers, from an agronomic, environmental and profitability perspective,” Ms Perdon said.
“The speakers are exceptional, including forester and farmer Rowan Reid, and experts from the agricultural, carbon and forestry fields.”
Rowan Reid is widely recognised as a leader in Australian agroforestry, he is also an esteemed academic, successful author, farmer, and consultant.
Rowan’s farm, Bambra Agroforestry Farm, is in southern Victoria and planted with more than 50 tree species, grown for timber, fodder, food and seed production.
The Integrated Trees On-Farm Conference is in-person attendance only, with limited tickets available.
