The Annual Australian Timber Design Award winners for 2019 were announced recently in Melbourne and fitzpatrick + partners claimed first prize for their stunning Castlecrag home aptly named The Seed House. Source: Timberbiz
The Seed House blends in seamlessly with the surrounding bushland typical of Castlecrag, floating on a steep, rocky overhang that juts out into Middle Harbour. This warm and charismatic home is hugged by rocky outcrops and Angophora trees. The architect’s use of the latest technologies in engineered timber construction gives this eco-friendly structure a sense of warmth and homeliness but also structure and character.
The vision of the Australian Timber Design Awards is to highlight, advertise, advocate, and develop a timber design ethos through the encouragement and showcasing of superlative timber design in a variety of applications. A broad range of entry categories demonstrates the diversity of timber and permits recognition of achievement in a variety of areas.
