The invitation to attend the event is extended to all employers, family and friends of women working in the forest and timber industry – men and women.
The forest and timber industry is a male dominated industry, women comprise approximately 5% of the workforce.
The Women in Forests and Timber Network (WFTN) is a forum for women in the industry to meet, exchange ideas and ensure their voices are heard.
WFTN’s “Strength in Support” cocktail party is being held to recognise the contributions of women in the industry and to celebrate their achievements and to support their access to skills and professional development opportunities.
This event will raise money for The Brisbane Domestic Violence Service (BDVS). The BDVS aligns with the WFTN as both organisations have a similar mission – empowering and supporting women in the workplace and in their personal lives. This event provides an opportunity for women in the industry to network and support each other.
The event complements the quarterly WFTN QLD networking breakfasts and annual field trip.
Many women in the forest and timber industry work in financial and administration roles and in remote areas and are unable to attend events held during working hours and too far away. This often compounds a sense of isolation. A weekend networking event provides equal opportunity for all WFTN members and supporters to participate.
